<p>To date, we have held several Dollar Book Store sales this year and have gotten over 2000 books into our students hands for free or at a minimal cost. Thanks to The Highline Schools Foundation for Excellence for their grant support in getting this program established and our wonderful parent volunteers who help keep it going. Mark your calendars again for our next DOLLAR BOOK STORE sale!            </p>

NOTE: If we can’t find a parent(s) to step up to Chair any of the activities below by MAY 1st, that activity will not be offered next year! <p>We are looking for volunteers to help with the Husky Field Day/BBQ Event on Thursday June 7th. Specifically- we need 12 volunteers for the following:  </p>
<p>Hours 9-11am set up ( 4-6 volunteers)<br />
10:00am:  start grilling – 3 volunteers to grill<br />
11:00am – 1:15pm –Serving.<br />

<p><strong>APRIL IS CHIHULY AWARENESS MONTH</strong><br />
 Many art docents are coming together in April and doing art projects inspired by Washington&#8217;s own famous artist, Dale Chihuly.  Our hope is to raise awareness about Chihuly and honor him by filling the school hallway with lots of COLOR.  This is also in conjunction with the opening of Chihuly&#8217;s Garden &#038; Glass exhibit, scheduled to open in the spring at Seattle Center.</p>
<p>Teachers without art docents are welcome to jump in too.  Parents who are not art docents are also encouraged to get involved.  If you would like to help out in some way with this event (e.g. help your teacher with a project or help decorate the halls etc.), please contact ghvolunteers@comcast.net.</p>
<p><strong>PLASTIC BOTTLES/CUPS NEEDED&#8211;ALL SIZES</strong> &#8211; we have started a collection box outside the PTSA room to gather plastic bottles/cups for this event (to be used for student art projects).  Please donate any plastic bottles/cups you might have!  Art docents/teachers, feel free to take from the box as needed for art projects.</p>

<h2>Club News</h2>
<p><strong>MILE CLUB</strong><br />
Congratulations to <strong>Colin Fournier!</strong> He was the first student to reach 15 miles this school year! Colin received a special prize for this accomplishment!</p>
<p>Mile Club happens every Friday during lunch recess &#8211; weather permitting. Please join us! Come have fun and get rewarded for exercising! Signs will be posted on days that Mile Club will occur. Please check-in near the baseball field. Students participating in Mile Club are encouraged to wear their Mile Club necklaces and foot tags on Fridays to display their accomplishments. Also, students are encouraged to wear athletic/running shoes on Fridays.</p>

Top 10 students with the most miles will receive an achievement certificate.<br />
Top 5 students with the most miles will receive an achievement certificate and an engraved necklace.<br />
Top student with the most miles will receive an achievement certificate, engraved necklace, and a $20.00 gift card!</p>

<p>New volunteers are needed! Mile Club runs from 11:00am to 1:10pm each Friday and includes all 4 lunch recesses. <p> Thank you to everyone for coming out and supporting our event, it was an amazingly fun evening and we raised lots of funds to continue supporting our school. Today we will upload the event night data and have hard numbers on our income and then we will announce that info in the Auction Loop on Tuesday. We, the Auction Directors, want to express our gratitude to all our pre-event and event volunteers, the GH Teachers and Staff, and to the community of Gregory families, who always bring love and support to our school, we absolutely could not have done it without you!</p>
<h2>Gregory Activities  THIS WEEK!</h2>
<p><strong>Dollar Book Store:</strong>  Our next Gregory Heights Dollar Book Store Sale will be <strong>THIS Wednesday</strong> February 15th at lunch recess. All books cost one dollar!</p>
<p><strong>Box Tops &#038; Labels for Education:</strong>  Due date is COLLECTION DUE DATE &#8211; <strong>THIS Wednesday</strong> February 15th.</p>

<p><strong>Book Buddies!</strong>  Did you know that the Burien Library has an after school reading mentor program? It is called Book Buddies has teen volunteers on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00 &#8211; 5:30 to help children in grades K &#8211; 4th practice reading. <h2>Donations Needed for P.E.</h2>
<p><strong> Roller blades &#038; Roller Skates:</strong> Parents please donate your used roller blades and /or roller skates to the PE Department @ Gregory Heights. Mr. S and Mrs. N will be teaching a roller skating/blading unit in March. We are especially looking for skates sizes 2 – 6 (for 2nd/3rd graders). We will also take any size skates 2 – 11.The skate unit is taught to grades 2 – 6. Thanks Mr. S and Mrs. N.</p>
<h2>Club News:</h2>
<p><strong>Girls Softball is coming up</strong> and we are looking for a few good people to volunteer! Needed: Coach and Coach&#8217;s helper for 5th/6th grade team; and a Coach&#8217;s helper for our 3rd/4th Grade Team.
