Auction Information
Auction Q&A:
Q. Is this Auction a valentine’s party?
A: No, it is an auction to benefit our school
Q: Is it formal? Do I have to dress fancy?
A: It is cocktail attire, be fancy or casual.
Q: It is a Love theme, do I need a date to attend?
A: Nope, in fact we have already sold 88 tickets and most tickets were purchased by people attending solo.
Q: Will there be couples related activities dancing…etc.?
A: We will have music playing but no, probably not dancing (unless someone feels really inspired;-)
Q: If I’m not part of a couple how do I know which table I will be sat at? I hope it is not a “singles” table.
A: When you visit http://ghptsa.ejoinme.org/loveis2012 and buy your ticket you just put the name of someone with whom you would like to sit in the Special Accommodations field. There is no “singles” table.
Q: I don’t drink alcohol will I have a choice of non-alcoholic beverages?
A: Yes, you will! You can even put that information in the Special Accommodations field so we know ahead of time.
This event is strictly a fundraiser to support our school and our enrichment programs! The Love Is…theme fits perfectly within the PTSA Vision: Making every child’s potential a reality, and the Mission: PTA is a powerful voice for all children.
- PTA is a relevant resource for families and communities.
- PTA is a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.
- Love Is…helping to provide a quality education for every child at Gregory Heights.
We can’t wait to see you at the Auction!
Raise the Paddle for Field Trips!
This year we put lots of thought into what our direct ask would be at the auction. The district does not fund field trips which are amazing opportunities for hands-on experiential learning.
5 Ways Field Trips Impact Learning:
- Kids get to experience learning (hands-on) with all their senses rather than at the computer, listening to a lecture, or reading
- Field trips can enhance curriculum by brining that information to life! Do you remember your favorite field trips from school?
- Many children in our district may not have the opportunity to visit places like: the zoo, a live play at the theater, the aquarium, a farm, and more…
- Field trips also give teachers and students the opportunity to have FUN
- Kids get to practice social skills with peers and adults in a public setting which can be very different than in the classroom
Here are a couple of links to articles/sites with more information on the value and importance of field trips: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/wc054

Have you bought your tickets yet? Remember to invite your friends, families, neighbors and co-workers. Our goal is to raise funds to support our school so the more bidders the better!
